The typical Pantera distributor clearance problem is not to the engine screen- either type- it's the cap to firewall clearance. And as I found on our '72 L, one can easily shift the entire engine/transaxle backward some 3/4" without interfering with anything, except the shifter stick which may need to be re-centered.
