FWIW, a stock or reground cam on a cast-iron core traditionally works best with a stock cast-iron gear as the metals are compatible. Bronze, steel or other type gears are only for steel cams such as rollers including factory-hydraulic rollers. Check with your cam grinder for their recommendations.I'd have no qualms at all in removing a good uses gear from a stock distributor & installing it on any aftermarket distributor if I had a cast iron cam. If you do otherwise, be sure to pull the distributor after 100 and500 miles and check the teeth; any wear or thinning of the teeth indicates trouble. Not so easy to check is wear on the integral camshaft gear....
