Distributor vacuum advance

Just had my distributor recurve to 22 deg on a distributor machine. With the static timing set at 12 deg and vacuum advance hooked up to side of the Holley carb, my timing is reading 48 deg total @ 3000 rpm on the car and with the vacuum disconnected its reading 39 deg @ 3000 rpm. Wondering if its ok to leave the vacuum advance hooked up or leave it disconnected ? Are there any advantage or disadvantage with it hooked up ? Thanks
