Reply to "Does Maserati Ghibli ZF transaxle fits ?"

Cayman,

A few things.

The ZF transaxle is probably not from a Ghibli. If it was from a Ghibli (front-engined car), I don't believe it would be compatible with a Pantera. The Maserati BORA shares the same ZF transaxle (with sub variants Dash 1, Dash 1.5, Dash 2) with the Pantera, GT40, Mangusta and BMW M1. The Pantera runs the box "upside-down" to some of the other cars and it is not simply a matter of turning it 180 degrees and attaching it to the Pantera housing.

All that said, you are more likely to find an "upside-down" Pantera ZF around because there were more produced for the pantera than all the rest combined. If you do happen to have an "upside-down" box, you might be further ahead selling it and buying a Pantera one, as the flipped boxes are in shorter supply. Only early '71 cars came with a "Dash 1" so yours is likely a Dash 2 (the photo of the data plate shows it to be a Dash 2 which will fit no problem).

Great looking car. I hope you get her back on the road quickly.
