Door fitting, help needed

Here's a tricky one. My left door on my 73 Pantera, bought 1 year ago, can close but the upper inner chrome part of the windowframe touches the 1" wide plate just in front of the rear side window. I've tried adjusting the door to avoid it, but then the edge around the door becomes huge and the door closing mechanism doesn't hit correctly. So whoever built my car, probably after rust repair and painting must have done something wrong. The main question is: Can the windowfram on the door be moved forward? Or can the rear side window and 1" plate (riveted on) be moved backwards?
Or any other good suggestions?
