Reply to "Door jam lever"

I'm out of town away from my car for several more days, but considering how few of these are left I'll respond as best I can from what I recall from years ago. The cable has a ball end that's held by the lever. You'll disconnect the old cable from the rear latch. Then pull out of the release lever (pay attention to where it was routed in between, as you'll have to rethread through those same areas). Then thread the new one. But I don't remember how the cable housing works. If you can't get the housing out this way and can't rethread the new cable through the original sleeve, you may have to get access to remove the bracket on the backside of the lever assembly (2 nuts I think, one above, one below), but that is indeed hard to get to and extremely difficult to resecure. As I recall, removing the door glideplate in the jamb can help give you some access but still a tough place. I think we modified my release lever housing at that point, but later replaced the cable properly when I had the tank out. Maybe this will help at least a little. Whatever you do, don't break the release lever assembly, as I believe those are now unavailable and I think it's just potmetal.
