One thing about our temporary solution at the time--it never was as solid as the original. A good idea is always to add a secondary remote release--just route a coat hanger wire or other cable from the rear latch release out to the driver side wheel well over the tire, put a ring on its end, etc. There should be enough space in the lever hole to have both cables somehow.
