Reply to "door latch mechanism removal"

UFO-Low- RE photo 1: those little plastic ball-recepticles on both ends of the short lock-rod are well known to be extremely brittle and will shatter on most cars when you try popping them over the ball-ends. So I use a small pin driver to push the tiny roll pin out of the circular cast piece the rod attaches to. Then, the rod assembly can stay in place but disconnected from the rest of the latch mechanism, with no problems in breaking those irreplaceable plastic ends(s). The pin is so small and has so little tension, I don't even need a hammer to tap the pin out; just a firm push with hands is enough. To my knowlege, the plastic ends are not available separately from anyone.
