I drilled the 2.5 inch hole a few years ago that Bosswrench recommends. I would also recommended this route for ease of access, etc.

I then built an aluminum plate (I think 1/8") that is just slightly smaller than then side profile of the pedal box. I bead blasted it, added a hole with a grommet for my emergency release cable, and mounted it with stainless screws. I think it looks very good. If you were not a Pantera aficionado then I don't think you would even notice this is a mod.
