I wouldn't run it without getting the bolt out first. Short of the magnet or basket (with mirrors and flex lighting as needed) grabber idea, or taking everything out and splitting the bell-housing/trans off, see what the pro-wrenches say. Duct tape over or get a plastic plug (eg Hall) for the bell-housing sight hole.
