Note to all: in any instance of electrical weirdness in a Pantera, begin by cleaning the central ground stud behind and above the tachometer (accessible by removing the console gauge panel and looking up & back). Corrosion, vibration etc tend to spoil the ground connection, and virtually everything is separately grounded up there. Remove the nut, wire-brush all the connections and re-torque. This is a high-expended-energy, zero-cost thing to do periodically to any Pantera. Say "thanks" to Joe Lucas for our Jaguar-derived wiring in your evening prayers...
