Well the good news is that I managed to extract the brass fuse screw using the tool George Posted.
But the switch had not fallen into the inner sill but fell along the wiring loom and into the outer sill. So out with the hole saw which did the business.
I have also treated myself to a new Gear lever knob made by a small one man machine shop locally, I found 4 small DeTomaso badges in the car when I bought it, I never found where they went so one is now in the top of my new gear lever knob, hope you approve but expensive at £40 but it is Bespoke so thats OK!
