Engine Bay Detailing

I'm doing an engine swap and decided to do a little detailing while the engine was out of the car. The bay is stripped clean of components and being prepped for paint. I'm lucky, no undercoating to remove. I was thinking about leveling the spot welds. Is this typically done with lead or body filler? Will plastic fillers stay put or are they prone to cracking or popping out? I've noticed some Pantera owners re-route their AC hoses to clean up the bay. What's the typical re-route? I have removed the tank and sand blasted/painted its exterior (interior is perfect), have new foil covered jute for the fire wall, and am installing a removeable cross member. Anthing else deserving of attention while the bay is bare?
