Ahh - that may explain it - my car does indeed have a big notch in the wheelhouse edge opposite cylinder no 4.

Since I'll be using the taller 9.5 deck SVO winsor block and narrower RHS heads (compared to the C heads), I may be able to run without the plates and thus lower the engine - we'll see.
