Reply to "Engine Pop, Drat!"

Awww hell Mark,

Pops are the result of an accumulation of gas in the exhaust or intake manifold. Valves that aren't seating or out of time, ignition out of time. Or perhaps a misfiring ignition box. If the dizzy gear was double pinned it should not have sheared. Double pinned gears don't shear as far as I can remember. I don't like the heavy duty oil pump shafts. Bent push rods (valve float), a valve head falling off ... those things could result in a "pop".

Sorry to hear of your troubles, hope the problem is easily and inexpensively resolved .... like perhaps an ignition box.
