Fredrik's schematic is excellent.

The accessory circuit is connected to the ignition circuit through the ignition switch.
When you turn off the ignition you also disconnect the accessory circuit from the ignition circuit - this prevents anything on the accessory circuit from pumping any power back into the ignition circuit.

So Ron - yup changing those switches to take their power from the accessory circuit will work.
