IMHO I would not run the Davies-Craig pump only because of some negative experiences that have been reported. All the other electric pumps I am aware of are for drag racing use ONLY!

Why reinvent the wheel (and use your expensive engine as the guinea pig). Dump the cast-iron pump and get a high quality, high flow aluminum pump. They are pretty cheap, lightweight, and reliable.

Just my opinion.
