Caution D2AE-CA is a casting number, the 1972 casting may be found or used in a later application. There should be a cast date code next to the casting. Also DeTomaso stamped a 4 digit number on the back of the block drivers side , it will match engine number info in fender. Ford stamped partial VINs on the back of blocks that were installed in Ford cars but they were 8 digit (year,assembly plant code,last6 of Ford vehicle vin), so easy there to ID a Repurposed engine block. Service blocks will not have any numbers. DavidB and DenisM GT5 cars are just a couple VINs apart and they have the original blocks with DeT stamped numbers with the same spread.
