Reply to "Exotic Car Show in NJ"

It was a really nice show! There were about 50-60 exotics of all types in attendance. The heat was sweltering and you could rest your drink on the humidity, so they ended the show a bit early.

The deTomaso marque was represented by a brilliant red race prepped Guara and 4 Panteras. The Panteras were a red '71 with a delta wing, a white pre-l with polished Campy clones, a red flared (a la GT5) '74 with a unique rear wing, and my '86 targa GT5-S. The four Panteras gave people a good sampling of our different 'flavors'.

A scheduling conflict with the dyno day prevented more Panteras from coming.

As I left the field to head home, my Pantera 'lunged' just as I shifted into second and shut off. I had spark, and my electric fuel pump was humming away. I took off the air cleaner to verify fuel squirting into the carb, and it was. After a few cranks it fired back up, but wouldn't idle on it's own. After a short while of driving, it stayed alive at idle. This happened once before, so I may have a carb problem.

I'd like to extend a personal 'Thank You' to Doug Hartman of Jersey Panteras who helped me get my Pantera going again for the 120 mile drive home. Doug and I drove together for about an hour before we reached his exit. Even though traffic was heavy, I enjoyed the drive together.
