fan mounting

I have a set of FLEX-A-LITE fans (model 210) that I am going to mount on my Phoenix raditor. The radiator shop is going to change the bracket location so it will lay forward about 3" and modify the tubes, but how does the fan actually mount to the radiator? I have seen several posts that say don't use the plastic posts that go through the radiator because they will eventually cut through the inner tubes. How do you guys mount them? The mounting brackets supplied with the fan are too big especially for the top of the fan
