Reply to "For Sale: 1971 Pantera, owned since Jan 1977, 37500 miles, fully refurbished"

Joules, thanks for your comments on my posting.
The front body pan is either the Euro version which was offered in the early '72's and probably in some of the late '71 models sold in Europe or was put on by the previous owner. I do not know why the front body pan from the rubber bumper era cars was put on but I do prefer the appearance as the the turn signal lights that are integrated into the bumperettes look like an after thought and take away from the front end sleekness and styling. The car has not been modified since it was purchased from a Tennessee car dealer in Jan 1977. The body pan can be changed by a purist buyer and is available from Wikinson Pantera in California. The chrome bumpers with the integrated turn signal lights may be difficult to source. The black fibre glass versions are available but they look cheap and do not suit the car as does replacing the chrome trim with black or painting the trim black to hide imperfections as per what a dealer or flipper would do.
As for the big bore Hall Pantera exhaust system vs the angled Ansa it becomes a matter of styling or originality vs sound and performance as there is a 1/2" difference in the exhaust pipe diameters and less restriction in the mufflers. The angled Ansa exhaust (not the straight Ansa used on the rubber bumper cars) can be sourced again from Wilkinson as can the OEM cast iron exhaust manifold so a purist looking for 100% originality can get it without too much added cost. Note: The intake manifold and carburetor are original on my Pantera as I did not take the cheap route of replacing the carb with a Holley or some other new carb version. The cost to rebuild the OEM carb was more than buying an aftermarket replacement. Most if not all of the Panteras being sold have replacements carbs and most have the screens cut or modified to accommodate those carbs.
The Pantera will be put on BaT when the timing is right (i.e. after the big live car auctions in Jan such as Barrett Jackson and Mecum). The cosmetic refurbishment (exterior and underbody) removed any negatives about the car so there is really nothing that a buyer or critic can pick at other than the front body pan and exhaust system. The car was posted on Detomaso Forums as I wanted to expose the car first to those who are likely looking for a keeper (not a flip opportunity although it is live auction ready) and are knowledgeable about Panteras and can appreciate the refurbishment work that has been done on the car and how that minimizes any add on cost risk post purchase.
I appreciate your comments.

You should list it on BaT, everyone thinks there Pantera is better than the other guys, let the bidders decide! Why does it have late model front turn signal pods int he valance, this year and VIN# would have had the turn signals integrated into the bumperette?

Just a pet peeve, but why do folks put a late model exhaust on an early model, this would looks o much better with the Ansa style up swept exhaust.
