Freakin' Corvette owners.

Sorry to anyone who has a 'vette here.
Just gotta vent on the lowball offer I got for 3168 from a guy on flea bay:

Q: Nice car, but I seriously doubt if you'll get anywhere near what you want. This is a 21 year old build which really shows it's age. I'm not trying to cut it down, just realistic. I'd be willing to offer you half of what you are looking for. Only cars that have the original paint, body off with lots of extras will even thing to get that high these days. Will it really go 200 mph? The HP doesn not show that it can. Or is this number with Nitrous? I've got a Z06 with a 427, I know what a 200 mph car is. Gary gdief9284@aol.com

A: Thanks for the complement. I doubt it will sell on Ebay for the asking price, but just like the gentleman selling the Hawaii 5 O Pantera, ebay is just a tool to get the car out into the public eye. It's free and most cars end up selling off ebay after the auction has ended. 7-10 days isn't enough time to arrange 3rd party inspections or negotiate terms. As far as not having original paint, that's pretty much a non issue as far as Panteras are concerned. The car was "body offed" and stripped as well as reassembled with all steel construction including the widebody flares. Also, they aren't confined to the "number matching" stipulations like the American muscle cars are. Performance upgrades do not hurt the value. Define "lots of extras"? The entire suspension was upgraded to fully adjustable racing components, brakes, coil overs, sway bars and steering. The only thing really "dated" about the car is it retains the 15" tires/rims and the Recaro seats. Actually, the thing that counts more to most buyers, whether it's muscle cars or exotics is documentation. There simply isn't enough room on an auction page to list all the documentation, the page is already too full as it is. I have at least a 3" thick folder of receipts and correspondence from all the shops involved with the build including Dennis Quella of Pantera Performance, the engine builders and local shops the previous owner used when building the car. These are available for inspection to SERIOUS buyers. Yes, the 200 mph mark I would say is with the added 225 hp from the nitrous. As far as your offer of $29000 goes, I think you have set your sights a little high for what you are willing to pay. Mid to high $20K car is going to get you a starter car. $42,000 and I'll pull the motor and you can install a new 427FE aluminum block. Thanks.

I guess the $29K offer just kinda rubbed me the wrong way? I wrote more, but ran out of space in the ebay reply box, maybe a good thing?

Lol, meant to ask him what a Z06 was. Big Grin ... cookie cutter wannabe.

Sorry again, I woke up a little cranky in the middle of the night, not the best time to respond to ebay questions I guess?
