Front License Plate Mounts

After a 2 3/4 year total rotisserie resto I'm ready to register and insure my car, a 74 done basically very stock. My concern is the podunk little town I live in and the local police with nothing to do pulling me over for no front plate.(it happened to me once in my Lotus Europa)Was there ever a stock mount? I've removed the stock bumper and have fiberglass replicas of the early ones on it. Was there ever a stock mount for early cars?
