Hi all,
My fuel guage ('74) is only reading just over half full when I fill up the fuel tank. Any suggestions to remedy this? The tank was out of the car and painted. Could it be just a case of dirty connections or a bad ground?
Also, my charging system does not seem to be charging the battery. The guage reads in the plus when the engine is running however the brand new battery goes dead. When the headlights are turned on even when the engine is not running the guage also reads in the plus rather in the minus as a draw on the system.
I have only driven the car 3 times after buying it in many boxes and slowly putting it back together. Most things were apart however the guages and dash wiring was not apart. Could it be the alternator or regulator? or a dead cell in the new battery? I do not have the test equipment to test the charging system but I do have an extra alternator and regulator. Should I begin there or is it maybe a wiring or guage issue?
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.
