Fuel return line

I'm now in process with the EFI conversion. Any problem with removing the charcoal canister and use the vent connection on the top of the tank as return line from the fuel pressure regulator? I will then probably also need a vented gas cap if I do so. I have also heard that I can use the sender connection on the top of the tank as return line. The feed line to the fuel pump will be connected to the bottom of the tank.
