Not only does the engine and transaxel need to come out, but you have to drill all the rivets out of the tank's heat shield (to get it out) before you remove the driver's side motor mount and shift linkage trunion bearing, including the last "arm" of linkage (attached to the ZF).

Not a trivial job ...
