My cap actually has an "rollover valve" on the inside. If you turn the cap on end, the valve drops and plugs the hole. The intent here is to prevent gas from pouring out in the event of a rollover ...

They are commonly available at most vendors. I bought mine from Jack DeRyke (Bosswrench).
