Often the 2stroke engines fail because the operator used fuel containing alcohol which dried out the rubber parts (fuel line, impulse line, intake manifold, etc.), which led to cracks in the rubber and an ingress of air, which led to... ...running lean and burning up the engine.

Always use ONLY alcohol-free fuel, and add Sta-bil immediately upon purchase. If it's over a half year old, dump it into your car and start over. The smaller the engine, the more critical this is.

You'll avoid 95% of your problems this way.
