Gassing up a Pantera has been a problem ever since the advent of the dual-hose nozzles for smog reasons. The same thing happens in my Pantera (and my motorcycle, too) and the upside-down pump nozzle fixes most gas pumps. Try not to run the pump wide open- it has to do with the angle of the inlet in Panteras not accepting gas as fast as some pumps can deliver it, I believe. Vendors used to sell a short extension tube that fit into a Pantera tank inlet and extended away from the body. On early cars, its worse- the spit-up lands in your trunk....
