Gas Tank Internals

I looked for previous posts but did not see an answer to this: I have the gas tank out of the car and noticed that the little float on the tank level sender has about a teaspoon of fuel in it. This does not seem right - should I get another? Are they available? Second question - the sock on the end of the fuel pick up tube has a small amount of dirt on it, less than I expected. Can I just blow this off with carb cleaner, or should it be replaced? Thanks
