There is a resistor that was factory soldered to the back of the light in the dash.

The resistor is necessary for the light warning system to work.

If that resistor OR connection is loose or failing, the warning light will stay on.

That would be the first thing to check. You will see that the wiring of that resistor is installed in a "vulnerable" way. It is just kind of hanging out and if you had the instrument panel out recently, the probability of this being the problem goes off the scale.
