Generator Light

While replacing my speedo and tach bulbs with 5 watt bulbs, I noticed that my generator bulb was missing. I replaced it, with another 5 watt bulb becuase that's all I had, and now it is constantly on. My car has a 90 amp 1 wire alt that's 5 years old and an optima batery. I'm assuming this is a wiring issue and a previous owner just yanked the bulb.
