Thanks Dave. So with only 11.8 volt at the battery terminals with the car running and the generator light showing on the speedo, you think it could be the voltage regulator? I was just going to change out the alternator unless there is some other test I can do. I suppose to find the voltage regulator I just follow the wires from the alternator. Maybe I need to dig out the engines for dummies book and see what else to test.

John, I just turned the key to the on position and the generator light on the speedo does not light up. But start the car and it does light up.
