I think the spoilers he sells are fiberglass. What he does though is adds a honking big flat piece of plastic to the front underside of the car affixed to the spoiler. He stood on the leading edge of the spoiler and bounced up and down to demonstrate its rigidity to me. The plastic sheet scrapes the ground before the spoiler and apparently the improved air flow keeps the front end planted at high speed.
