Put the wheel face down on the ground. Put a stick, a 1 x2, a 2 x 4 on top of the wheel from edge to edge.

Now measure from the bottom of the 2x4 to the wheel mounting flange. That is the backspacing.

I wouldn't expect anyone who looks like that in a biki to know this anyway. I suppose I am a sexist?
