From Jack's previous posts on this subject, I looked at at my halfshaft and saw the shiney area under the clip. I ordered new u-joints based on the assumption ( I know, I know what happens when you assume) that I have owned this car since 1985, that I have never done anything to them other than clean, paint and grease them. I ordered 4 new OEM replacement u-joints. After removal I see one side clearly has the word "SPICER" cast in all of the u-joint ends. The other side does not have anything cast in it. I am assuming (again) that the previous owner must have changed one halfshaft. Is there a problem running 2 different types of halfshafts? (i.e. an OEM and one that takes "Spicer" u-joints?
okay, now I am really confused, I took out my caliper and measured the openings in both halfshafts = 1.25" the new u-joints also measure 1.25" Does anyone have the diameter of OEM u-joints Jack mentioned in an earlier post that they were bigger than Spicers
