Hall Aldan Shocks

My local mechanic says I am missing what he calls, a shock isolator, for my Hall Aldan shocks setup. Said it is a rubber piece that goes in between the spring, and the top hat of the shock itself. I bought these used, but the previous owner says he never had such a thing. I called Aldan, and they don't have it. Shop says Hall does, but wants $200. Any thoughts or experiences?
