I had one in my car, and it is nice to have the look of a delete plate when you're not using it. HOWEVER, these decks are notorious for the ribbon cable giving up the ghost and you're stuck with an expensive paper weight. The one in my car was put in by the previous owner during restoration, as I understand it, he only drove the car a couple of times before selling, and then I didn't get a season out of the deck. The problem is that the cable gets bent back and forth each time the deck opens or closes, so eventually it fatigues and stops working.

That being said, If I could find another at a good price, I'd be tempted to buy it and store it until my current (non-Kenwood deck) packs it in ... or maybe I'll take my chances at buying a replacement cable (and a spare for next time) and weaving it through the springs and rollers.
