I think Hall's goal was to achieve rigidity for the roof cut, whereas I would expect most who install a roll cage are looking for a sanctioning body approval for racing. At least I would hope so as a roll cage in a street car puts the tubing in too close proximity to occupants heads with dire consequences in an accident.
