Is this a two point or four point cage? The four points do require a access hole to be cut in the front to allow the backing plate to be inserted and sandwiched between the chassis and cage.

If I recall the earlier cars did not have the seatbelt retractors and therefore the access hole for seatbelts. As George points out, most require the stock seatbelt mounts plate and retractors removed and the two point cage bolts in. I would guess that you do not have this style belt. Can you supply a picture of the seatbelt floor mount area to confirm?
