HEADLIGHT BUCKET HELP

My car was in a relatively minor accident last month and I am trying to get the parts together and the last part I needed came in today. The headlight bucket I am replacing was a fiberglass bucket with the flat metal body panel(top piece that sits flush with the fender) epoxied to the fiberglass. the replacement bucket is an all stamped and welded metal bucket. What were the buckets made out of on a 74L? Before I purchased the car in 85 someone had replaced the round headlamps with rectangular ones, I don't know if they modified the bucket or not, Looks like I may need to spend another $180 to get a matching metal one for the undamaged side. I know there was a production change around unit #2700 and the seller led me to believe the difference was the size of the top piece so that is where we took the measurements. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.

P.S. the top of my headlight bucket is made of aluminum rather than steel like the replacement one I got. Also the replacement one has a long about 6" metal protrusion on the bottom of the unit that sort of fits up in the nose of the fender.
thanks
