Forest, Actually the early and late model relays are apparently not the same according to TSB 14. Older cars had part no. D16Y and later models had D46Y. The differences are on the inside, with the older model having a "bridge wire" on the inside connecting the two ground terminals. The later models don't have this jumper so they jump it on the outside per Figure 19. Not sure I understand why or how this works, but my cars wiring (Late 74) is exactly as shown on Figure 19.
