I do not know the answer to your question; although, I suspect it is wired right if it has worked this long. Cleaning the connector behind the splash shield corrected my dim headlight. I think that you are on the correct track.

There are some who advocate adding an additional ground wire from the connector to a local frame section for additional grounding. I did incorporate that mod as well; however, I am not sure it has mattered.
