headlight woes

I need help. My headlamps have been raising slowly. Now they barely move and blow fuses, I've checked all of the wiring and replaced my limiter switches. The motor seems to be the problem, but trying to remove it is next to impossible? Any suggestions. Are they're any upgrades to this antiquated system yet?
