Heater Hose Shut off

Haven't pulled heater apart before, but maybe someone could put me in the right direction.
Do the heater hoses come from inside the car, from the fire wall through to the console or from underneath the car to the heater.
I want to put the heater shut off valves on.
The weather is hot here and the car isn't helping much!
