Reply to "Hella Kill Switch"

I cannot confirm it was a hella switch but I had a problem with a simliiar unit (using the red removable key). It was not as waterproof as claimed and gunked up with dirt and water, causing the switch to fail. This was on a off road application used in all type of weather. Mounted in a protect area would have solved the problem.

On my car it is a taylor type unit. Mounted with the switch level so that it can be accessed inside the car by the passenger seat footwell. Unlike Marlin, mine is on the positive terminal with a short cable from the battery to the switch then the stock cable from the switch. Whatever you do, make sure all positive battery terminals/connections are covered, when considering things rolling around in the boot who knows what might land on a positive terminal causing a short.

There are two types of switches on the market. Some come with a disconnect for the alt and the battery. This assures 100% motor shut down when needed, but hard to connect on a mid engine car with the battery up front.

A battery shut off is good protection seeing how there is a massive power cable running down the rocker panel to the starter. If that sucker shorts, it will smoke all kinds of wiring in the car.
