I reckon that’s your car in the DDC magazine then. Sounds like a good idea for Goodwood, I’ve sorted a hotel out fairly close by as this weekend is one the lady enjoys coming to as well.

For general amusement whilst admiring the Pantera in the ‘winged cars’ display next to the main house with a lovely 930, Countach and several others I noticed a rather famous film director stood next to me, he of Star Wars fame. Anyway I was busy trying to get my lady’s attention to point him out as he was literally two feet away

“What do want?”

I carried on tugging at her hand

“Who’s he?”

We left promptly

God bless her, I also saw JayKay of Jamaraqui sp. fame and tugged at her hand again

“Who’s the little man honey?”

She’s Canadian which explains most of it. Goodwood none the less is an absolutely fantastic celeb spotting aside!

I’m staying in Alencon with the DDC staying only a few miles up the road at Neufchatel. The hotel we are in is the Ibis being bang in the centre of the town and a very nice place it is as well. Normally there is a wealth of exotics parked up around the town centre and our regular watering hole is the ‘Braserie des Ducs’ which has a constant supply of 1664 being brought to the table. If I recall correctly a gaggle of the DDC came into Alencon last year because lets face four or five Pantera’s will make their presence felt and heard.

Depending on how long it takes Rogers garage to sort the Deauville out once it has arrive will dictate its presence at this years race but if like you it hasn’t then there is always another to take. Possibly not the place to say it but the BB is a long time favourite of mine. Either way Charlie’s Pant really stole the show down at Arnage on the Friday

Do it and do it now, you will never regret it and want to keep going back. I am sure there are plenty of travel companies who can offer a package from the US of A?. It really is far more than just a race. The drive down from GB, terrorising the French Police, plenty of food and booze and the Hawaiian Tropic girls.

The French Police now destroy a radar detector if they find you using one and fine you anywhere between £500 and £4000 for a speeding. Two years ago a bloke got imprisoned for being caught at over 200 in a Diablo. Makes you think!

There are always plenty of American and Canadians who make the trip and we have always bumped into loads of South Africans as well over the years so it really is an international affair. The Japanese have cleared off in recent years but in terms of standing there waving their Nissan or Toyota flags constantly for 24 hours, you’ll never see anything like it. We went for the beers hours earlier and stayed there

For what it’s worth about 10 years ago we say above the ADA Pantera pit, fantastic!

The racing in recent years hasn’t really been much good compare to the glory days of Group C and Jaguar but it is far more than just a race.
