Help in tracing my Pantera's History

Hi all...pretty new to the forum here as I just purchased my 74 Pantera in February. Have a little work to do before she's on the road.I'm looking for direction in how to trace her history. The P.O. indicated that he was the second owner, having bought the car in 1979. I'm trying to find out her history from new to that point (1979) or to check and see if the story is indeed true. She is #6451 and spent from 1979 until February of 2013 in New York State. How do I find out where she was before that? Thanks for any assistance.
