Reply to "Hey George. Is balanceing worthwhile in a CLeveland?"

DeTom,

George is right on with the balancing.

For the extra $200 it is well worth the cost to balance your motor on it's next rebuild. It does make the motor smoother. It reduces harmonic frequencies at all RPM's, and more at some RPM's. This will let the engine tach up quicker, and help it to live longer.

Blueprinting is an engine building process in which all of the tolerances are tightly gone over. All of the block's dimensions are checked, all of the piston rings are hand filed and gapped, the cam is degreed in, the oil pump is checked for exact tolerances, The head's combustion chambers are cc'd, etc. Blueprinting is a lot of work, and I don't think it's necessary for a street motor. All it does is verify that everything is as it should be, and exact.
