Hi Lee, I just went and took the cover of mine (8MA 1298) to make sure what you are asking.

Anyway, it would make sense to have the paint line at the edge of the metal where it folds over the frame, the only thing is if you look closely at the pictures, the edge of the Alum where it folds over the frame is very uneven.

It has been roughly cut with snips, then folded and crimped to the frame.

The paint line is even at 10mm from the edge of the panel, so I suspect they masked it then sprayed the flat black..
